Hi, I am Haohao Zhu. I am a second-year Ph.D. student at the University of Michigan, advised by Prof. Jiayu Zhou and a member of the Illidan Lab. My research interests include machine learning, causal reasoning, and multimodal AI. I am interested in building AI systems that are reliable, interpretable, and useful for real-world problems.

I have been exploring how causal ideas and large language models can help us better understand complex data across different modalities, such as text, images, and structured information. My current applications focus on K–12 education and healthcare.
